Say It Isn’t So

As a young girl I remember my mom “curling” her eyelashes every morning. I haven’t seen one of those metal curling concoctions since I left home for college…… until now.

A few weeks ago I walked into my office to find a coworker almost in tears, she is in her fifties…and looks fabulous. With her glasses on I couldn’t quite tell what was missing or out of place but something looked different about her. And then; the truth comes out. She had cut her eye lashes completely OFF.
The eye lash curler from the seventies was still part of her morning beauty ritual and apparently it does require maintenance or replacement after so many uses. Needless to say, she has decided that once the lashes grow back she will retire the eye lash curler forever. In a conversation with a girlfriend a couple of days ago, I shared the story of the eye lash curler gone bad…. This very fashionable friend informed me that she also uses an eye lash curler!! WHAT?
Yes, she and several more of my hip friends still use what I thought was an out of fashion beauty technique. So, just like fashion beauty products do come back in style after many decades. I now confess to you….I will be going to target today; to buy my new eye lash curler that I plan to replace regularly to save my lashes.
