Airport and packing tips
July 1, 2009
Are you tired of looking like a dork at the baggage claim, lunging after every black suitcase that comes around? Did that “distinguishing” ribbon you tied around the handle cause more problems than it was worth? Try these on for size… not only are they quality suitcases, the colorful fabric will call to you from the luggage belt, “I’m yours and I’m ready to go!”

…and another thing
Since shoes take up so much space, try to pack the most versatile ones you own and minimize their intrusion in your luggage by filling the insides with items such as socks or belts. Make sure that the heaviest shoes are towards the bottom of your suitcase near the wheels so they will be less likely to shift during the flight and wrinkle the rest of your clothing.
Also, be sure that the shoes you wear to the airport are easily removable for the checkpoint inspection, and unless you are ready to show off your manicured toes, remember that people will be staring at your bare feet as you go through the metal detector.
When you are shopping at your destination, remember that you will have to bring back any items you acquire. When you purchase larger shoes and boots, try asking the sales clerk if the store would have them shipped to you at home. Many stores will do this as a courtesy. It will not only save suitcase room, but give you something to look forward to upon your arrival home!
